Breast Cancer Matters.....

This site has been designed to discuss all & any Breast Cancer issues, no matter what they may be. It could be your story, questions about testing, giving self exams, doctors, 2nd opinions, political, medical, diagnoses, treatments, alternative, getting tested for family genes, ages for getting exams and mammograms, Insurance, whatever is on your mind or the buzz of the day on Breast Cancer issues. If you need to vent or discuss issues, this is the place to do so. Not only should we vent and discuss, but, need to try to find ways to do something about these things, because we as a people will not stand for anyone keeping women and men from getting the care they need. Any comments on these subjects or what you are thinking, is the reason I have done this for us. You and I. Any comments on how my site is doing, is much appreciated. Suggestions are welcome & will be considered.
Thank you,
Susie Lyn Tucker <3

  8. When I heard about the decision by the Task Force, I was Mad as Hell! That hasn't changed! I do not understand, yet, how they came to this conclusion!
I do not understand how they can justify this conclusion! How can they live with their collective conscience? I am bewildered!

One of the things they said was that it stresses women out to worry about what the mammo might find, or what their personal body check might find. This is belittling to all women to assume they cannot handle doing these things. They underestimate women of 2009! We waked women up to this reality that ANYONE can get breast cancer, it doesn't matter if you have family history or not. We have become warriors against this plague by passing this word to all our friends and family. And now this Task
Force wants to pretend that we are still in the Dark Ages of Breast Cancer research and knowledge, and that we are weak and unable to handle this truth in our lives.
This Task Force, instead, should be praising women of today for their ability to understand what a killer BC can be and for being informed and arming themselves with the latest information to care for themselves and prevent cancer from invading their bodies.
The TF decision is unbelievable and they are finding out how strong women are. The warriors will not be condescended to!
It is unconcionable (sp) to suggest to women that they do not need to do their self exams!
It is a CRIME to suggest to Insurance Companies that mammograms are not needed before age 50.
If you are under the age of 50, and your doctor sees there is no family history, and he/she, believes there is no need for a mammo before 50, you can very well still be at risk!
I do not know anyone who had, or has BC who has family history or any reason to believe they would ever be at risk. Having said that, if you are a woman who has no history, it is up to you to take your chances. There are, of course, women who have BC who have the history, I just dont know them, and I know plenty who didnt.
More later, gotta go to work!

  11. Susie is feeling sick today...the treatments are catching up with me...got sick last night, and my legs hurt so bad. I have felt this way before from my treatments, I started again after a 2 month break...it's like starting all over again...in January it did the same thing..a delayed reaction, which got shorter with each treatment...meaning, the time before this, it started right after the treatment. Grand huh??

  12. So I have sent out several emails to different agencies, people, etc. about this ridiculous recommendation from the Task Force. I have gotten a couple of replies. One from my state Senator & one from the American Cancer Society. I tried to copy & paste the ACS email into this, but it won't let me, so I'm putting it in a note on my FB.
